Actually this is the correct one.

Marilyn Monroe, Goldie Hawn, and Madonna are some of our favorite blonde bombshells of all time! It’s no wonder you might be considering joining the ranks of these ladies and switching up your hair color to fabulous blonde! However, there are some considerations you will want to take into account before bleaching or lightening your hair. Whether it’s your first time going blonde, or you just want to refresh your current color, we have some tips to make the process as smooth as possible for you and your tresses.

1. Consider your natural hair color – Not all hair coloring is created equal, and depending on your natural shade, your stylist may want to suggest a gradual plan for you. Your hair’s overall health is important, and going from a dark shade to blonde in one sitting may do considerable damage to your hair.

2. Do not, we repeat, do not DIY – Bleaching your hair yourself can quickly end up in a catastrophe. You could end up with brassy, splotchy hair that rivals any Pinterest fail. You could get an uneven tone, mismatched highlights, or even cause irrevocable damage to your strands. Leave this one to the professionals!

3. Be transparent with your stylist – Ignored our last advice and DIY anyways? Be completely honest with your stylist. They will need knowledge of how much your hair has been colored in order to get the best results. If you’re not sure whether going blonde is right for you, they will also be able to provide some guidance.

4. Blonde is not One Size Fits All – “Blonde” has a huge spectrum of shades! One stylist may consider blonde to be ashy, icy white strands – while another stylist may liken the color to golden hues of sunshine. Make sure to bring some inspiration photos to keep everyone on the same page.

5. Treat Yo’Self (Trust Us) – Bleaching will inevitably weaken your hair. Refresh your strands by treating them to a hydrating hair mask. A mask can restore your hair’s moisture and balance out your strands.

6. Think About Maintenance Prior to taking the Blonde Plunge – Blonde is the most difficult color to maintain, and will require a lot of appointments with your stylist. If you want to ease in, or have less of commitment – consider balayage. The darker colors at the scalp and root will cut down on maintenance, but the painted strands of bright blonde will still give you the beautiful effect you’re looking for.

7. When in Doubt, Purple it Out – Purple shampoo is your friend! Purple shampoo will keep your hair a true blonde (no brassiness over here) – shiny and vibrant! Keep it fresh.

8. Be Prepared for Texture Change – Bleaching consistently (which is a must if you want to remain blonde) will change your hair texture over time. Be prepared for straighter ends if you have curls, or more volume if you have straight hair.

Blonde is a fun color choice for anyone, with all of its versatility and hues. It’s a choice that should not be made, well, lightly. Working with our stylists will help you get the hair color you’ve always wanted, and we can recommend some great products to help keep it that way.
